Sixty six government schools within the Kinniya Education Circuit have been closed for three days starting today due to fast spreading of Dengue in the Trincomalee district.

13 patients in the Kinniya Divisional Secretariat Division have died of Dengue within the last two weeks.

The highest number of patients in the Trincomalee district has been reported from Kinniya.

It is reported that many patients are transferred to Trincomalee Base hospital due to lack of facilities in Kinniya hospital.

However, it is also reported that there are no sufficient space at Trincomalee hospital as well to accommodate more patients.

When our news team contacted District Medical Health Officer Arun Mohan stated that an anti-dengue program has been started already covering the entire district.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Muslim Council has written to Health Minister Rajitha Senarathna to draw his immediate attention to the fast spreading dengue in Kinniya.

A total of 21,116 dengue cases have been reported this year and, the highest number of patients were reported from the Western Province.
