A worker of the Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya sabha has climbed on top of its 70ft tall water tank and is currently engaging in a protest.
This is on the basis, that even though he serves as a substitute worker as he does not have designated duties, his salary has been reduced.
Speaking to Hiru news, the worker noted that until the secretary of the Pradeshiya Sabha or North eastern province commissioner provides a solution, he will not climb down from the water tank.
The worker named R.K Sunil Shantha added that the secretary of the pradeshiya sabha assigns duties to other workers and as a result he does not receive any duties.
When our reporter inquired about the matter from the Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya Sabha secretary, Paul Fernando, he stated that the assignment of duties only takes place if a need arises.
