Police headquarters say that concerns have been drawn to deploy police officers dressed in civilian attire for motor traffic duty.

In order to serve the purpose, police vehicles without the police logo are to be deployed.

The decision has been taken to reduce road accidents, to assure the safety of pedestrians and to minimize road traffic.

A preliminary trial was held in a few main roads in Colombo under the supervision of DIG Palitha Fernando.

There will be a few rounds of discussion regarding its shortcomings and weaknesses.

We inquired regarding the preparation for the new mechanism which is to be implemented during road traffic duty from police media spokesperson, DIG Priyantha Jayakodi.

He stated that he cannot disclose any information regarding such a program yet.
