A group of private bus workers and passengers engaged in a protest at Sirambi Adiya, blocking off Anuradhapura Puttalam main road this morning.

The group was protesting against issuing spot fines by Puttalam Division Express Way Traffic Police on Semi Luxury buses carrying overloads.

One of the drivers has been issued a spot fine of 20,000 rupees.

Traffic on Anuradhapura Puttalam road was blocked for one and half hours due to the protest.

However, the protesters dispersed after Police promised to grant them a concession on the spot fine.
