Prime suspect in Samayan murder case ‘Bunti’ arrested

The main suspect linked to the murder of seven persons including under world kingpin Samayan was located whilst in hiding in Sella Kataragama and has been arrested.

The suspect has been identified as 25 year old Kuruppuge Chathuranga Pushpakumara Mendis alias BUNTI, a resident of Battaramulla.

Police said that that the suspect is believed to have been engaging in dealing with narcotics.

A prison bus which was transporting a group of suspects was subject to an attack on February 27thwhere 5 suspects and 2 prison officers were killed in the cross fire. 

The police team investigating the case, arrested a woman who had been harboring the suspects and her informant.

Police later questioned a Kaduwela Urban Council member in connection with the murders.
