A few hakkapatas have been recovered from the elephant bathing site of Maa Oya in Pinnawala.

The explosive devices had been hidden in a nearby tree of the river bank.

Police suspect that somebody has purposely deposited the explosives in the tree to harm the elephants when they are brought for bathing.

Police also said that the explosives will be disposed of on an order obtained from the Kegalle Courts.
