Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Med-ve-dev stated that he would be committed to pass on the benefit of Sri Lanka-Russia relations to the people of the country.

He announced this during his meeting with visiting Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena today.

The two leaders drew close attention to further broaden bilateral relations on economic, trade as well as cultural sectors.

President Maithripala Sirisena has stated that Sri Lanka anticipates assistance from all friendly nations in its innovative journey towards development.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igor Morgulov stated that the friendship between President Maithripala Sirisena and Russian President Vladimir Putin is a turning point for the bilateral relations between the two countries.

President’s Media Unit stated that the deputy minister made this remark at a special ceremony held last night to mark 60 years since establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

President Maithripala Sirisena graced the event as the chief guest.
