Indian officials have seized 16.32kg of gold believed to have been smuggled from Sri Lanka to Ramanathapuram via sea.

Indian Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers from Thoothukudi and Coimbatore have intercepted a courier van at the coastal Devipattinam, near Ramnad on Sunday night, and seized smuggled gold bars, Indian media states.

DRI has detained the van driver.
