NFF leader MP Wimal Weerawansa who called off his 9-day fasting today is still receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital.

Hospital Deputy Director Dr. Cyril de Silva said the health condition of the MP is not critical however.

The MP called off the fasting at the request of the Chief Prelate of Ramannya Nikaye Most Venerable Napane Premasiri Thera and Anunayake Thera of Malwathu Siyam Nikaya Venerable Niyangoda Vijitha Thera.

The written request was handed over the fasting MP by Chief Monk of the Southern Sri Lanka Venerable Pallaththara Sumanajothi Thera.

In their written request to the MP, the two chief monks have stated that they would intervene to settle the issues which caused the MP to start a fasting.
