Water supply has still not been properly restored to certain areas in Colombo.

Water to few areas in Colombo was suspended for 15 hours, on Wednesday (29), due to urgent maintenance work at the Ambatale Water Purification plant.

A protest was also held at the Chithra-Mahal flats in Narahenpita stating that they had not received water for nearly 5 days.

Minister of Town Planning and Water Supply Rauf Hakeem stated that the water tariffs may have to be increased in future irrespective of the opposition towards the decision.

Meanwhile, it was reported that surgeries at the Colombo Eye Hospital have stalled due to the water cut which affected several areas in Colombo recently.

Hospital Authorities had to cancel nearly 100 surgeries yesterday.

Hospital Directress, Specialist Doctor Nilanthi Fernando stated that although 30 thousand liters of water had been stored at the hospital in preparation for the water cut, it had been insufficient.
