Consultant Epidemiologist, Dr. Samitha Ginige says that the viral fever epidemic in sri lanka has been identified as H1N1 influenza.

He added that  primary symptoms of the disease are cold, fever and cough.

Accordingly, pregnant mothers, children and individuals with low immunity are advised to be concerned if such symptoms are experienced.

Dr. Samitha Ginige added that such individuals should be subject to treatment immediately.

Meanwhile, all faculties of Peradeniya University have been closed until further notice, due to the epidemic.

Previously two faculties of University of Ruhuna were closed down owing to the spread of the viru
