UNP working committee to meet today to make a change in positions

The UNP working committee meeting will convene under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at 10 am today in Sirikota.

It has been reported that there is a proposal to be submitted on establishing 3 deputy leader positions and 3 sub chief positions.

Accordingly, Ministers Sajith Premadasa, Ravi Karunanayake and Kabeer Hashim are to be nominated for the deputy leader posts.

A proposal is also to be submitted nominating Ministers, D.M Swaminadan, Ranjith Maddumabandara and Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka for the sub-chief position.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will be nominating minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam for the position of general secretary of the party.

The administration of election campaigns in the north central, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern provinces will be handed over to the new appointees of the party.

In addition it has been reported that there will be several appointments in the new working committee.

However, it has been decided that the chairman of the youth organization of the party and the Lak Wanitha Organization will not be changed.
