President Maithripala Sirisena has told the Malwathu and the Asgiri Prelates that he assures them that he would not allow any room to harm the national security of the country when the Hambantota Port agreement is signed.

Registrar of Asgiri Chapter Dr. Medagama Dhammananda Thera quoted President Sirisena as saying the head of the Chinese collaborating company would meet him this afternoon.

A special discussion was held with the participation of the President at the Presidential Residence in Kandy this morning.

Anunayake Theras and members of working Sangha councils of the Malwathu and the Asgiri Chapters participated in the discussion.

Venerable Medagama Dhammananda Thera said that 21 proposals were handed over to the president during the discussion.

One of the proposals stated that the political solution concerning the North and East should protect presidential powers and have accountability to the central government.

The Other proposal is not to open the road in front of the temple of the tooth for the public.

The Malwathu Asgiri Sangha Sabha further requested the president to issue a gazette to take over all forests reserves from the Forest Department and put them under Wildlife Department as in the case of the Wilpattu National Park.
