The token strike launched by Ceylon Electricity Trade Union Federation from midnight yesterday is scheduled to end at midnight today.

The strike was launched against suppressing worker trade unions and not settling salary anomalies.

Restoration of power interruptions failed due to the strike while consumers who sought services from various CEB offices were gravely inconvenienced due to the token strike.

Meanwhile, the GMOA is ready to launch an island wide strike beginning from 8am tomorrow.

The strike will be launched in protest of Malabe Private Medical School.

In the meantime, Colombo Chief District Magistrate Sujeeva Nissanka rejected to issue an injunction over the strike planned by doctors tomorrow.

A resident of Ethul Kotte, H. I. Jayasena filed a motion seeking an injunction over the strike tomorrow.

However the magistrate issued an order on the GMOA to appear before Court on May 4th to show cause with regard to the motion.
