A tense situation erupted in parliament today as a Joint Opposition MP announced that sufficient time has not been allocated for the adjourning debate over the Geneva proposals.

Later, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya decided to adjourn the house sitting for tomorrow.

Speaker Jayasuriya, parliamentarians Dinesh Gunawardana, Dallas Alahapperuma, Bandula Gunawardana, Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka exchanged heated words over the matter today.

Meanwhile, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said that steps will be taken to publish a list of names of parliamentarians who are present in the house with effect from May 1st.

This decision has been taken as many Ministers are continuously absent in the chambers to reply to aural questions asked by house members.
