Doctors on strike today as Electricity board workers end their movement

The Government medical Officers Association will be launching an island wide token strike today against the Malabe private medical university.

Accordingly, the Association noted that the token strike would commence for a period of 24 hours beginning at 8 am today.

The assistant secretary of the GMOA, Dr. Nalinda Herath noted that over 100 trade unions will be supporting the strike action.

Meanwhile, a petition for an injunction order to cancel the strike which is scheduled to be launched today, was rejected by the Colombo district court yesterday.

Meanwhile, the token strike launched by the CEB Joint Trade Union Alliance at midnight on Wednesday came to an end at midnight the following day.

Meanwhile the work to rule action launched by the Diploma holders engineers Association at the Water Supply and Drainage Board and the technical officers association has been resolved following discussions.

The association noted that the trade union action continued for nearly two months.

The work to rule campaign came to an end following discussions held with the minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage, Rauf Hakeem.
