NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa who was in remand for nearly 3 months received bail this morning.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayarathna released the MP on 50 thousand rupees cash bail and two surety bails of 500 thousand rupees each.

The Court also ordered the suspect to surrender his passport to Courts.

MP Wimal Weerawansa was arrested by the FCID on January 10th on the allegations of the misuse government vehicles.

He was later remanded.

Consequently, the MP staged a protest fast for 9 days inside remand prison demanding bail.

However he ended the fast, as a result of being admitted to Colombo National Hospital.

Bail applications filed on behalf of the MP were rejected on several occasions; however this morning the MP was granted bail in response to the latest application that was filed.
