Indian Election Commission has negated the by-election in Doctor Radhakrishnan Nagar alias R.K.Nagar which was the seat of late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalitha Jayaram.
The Commission has taken this initiative in line with the supporters of the successor of Jayaram’s seat, V.K.Shashikala alias Chinnamma who was arrested after coming into power, being accused of distributing bribes worth of Rs.860 billion among the voters.
The by-election was scheduled to be held on July, 12.
However, later it has been revealed that the AIADMK Party has bribed 33,000 voters of them by distributing Rs.4000 each in cash and goods such as electric lamps, sarees, mobile phones and recharge cards.
Accordingly, Indian Election Commission has announced last night that the by-election in Jayalalitha’s seat has been postponed without further notice.
