Higher Education Minister Lakshman Kiriella says that the demands to close the Malabe Private Medical School could not be fulfilled.

Addressing a ceremony held in Kandy today, the minister said the private medical school has already been accepted by the Court.

The government announced a series of proposals to be implemented in order to solve the issue.

One of the proposals was to take over the Neville Fernando hospital by the Health Ministry.

Among the other three proposals, the Health Ministry wants to gazette minimum standards for medical education in Sri Lanka.

Later, the GMOA stated that not only Neville Fernando hospital but Malabe Private Medical School also should be taken over by the government.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Rajitha Senarathna expressed his views about the GMOA during a ceremony held at Temple Trees to hand over letters of appointment to one thousand nurses.
