Government doctors complain of dearth of drugs for influenza

The GMOA stated that there is a dearth of Tamiflu, an anti viral medicine used to treat influenza H1N1 in patients.

GMOA Assistant Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge stated this at a media conference held in Colombo today.

However, Pharmaceutical supply unit of the Health ministry stated that there is no such shortage of drugs to treat influenza H1N1.

Director of the Unit Dr. Lal Panaapitiya told our news team that necessary medicine has been imported.

However, the pharmaceutical supply unit stated that buffer stocks of the drug are available to be used in an emergency situation.

However, health ministry spokesman stated that steps have been taken to release drugs under a limited amount.
