Questioning starts with regard to Kaduwela shooting

Police stated that several persons were questioned with regard to the murders of two persons near Kotalawala Junction on Navagamuwa Kaduwela road this morning.

Two unknown assailants had arrived by a motor cycle, shot dead the victims and fled the scene at 10am today.

The deceased have been identified as 42 year old Ruwan Thushara and 49 year old Kothalawalage Don Priyawansa.

Police suspect a feud between two underworld gangs is the motive behind the shooting.

It is also reported that 42 year old Ruwan Thushara was a relative of the murdered underworld kingpin, Samayang and, had been involved in drug peddling.

A special police team under the supervision of Nugegoda SSP has been deployed to arrest the assailants.

Meanwhile, a motor cyclist was shot at Kokkadicholai in Batticaloa last night.

Later police arrested the suspect.

Police said a family feud had lead to the shooting.

Meanwhile, several women led by the victim’s wife have sported a row with the wife of the suspect.

Several of them who received injuries in the clash have been admitted to Batticaloa hospital.
