An unusual New Year celebration at former president’s Carlton home

An unusual New Year celebration was held at former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Carlton house in Tangalle today.

Among the participants were those who represent Provincial Councils and Pradeshiya Sabhas from the Joint Opposition.

The organizers had renamed the age old New Year competitions to create political satire.

Our correspondent stated that the traditional pot breaking competition had been renamed as the competition of breaking Central Bank.

At the same time, exploding balloons had been renamed as exploding Google Wi-Fi balloons.

Further the competition to search for coins hidden in wheat flour had been renamed as searching for Lamborghini.

Marking the eye on the golden horse was also held during the celebration.

Prizes were distributed by former president Mahinda Rajapaksa and, the winners received toy Lamborghini motor cars and helicopters as prizes.
