Body of police constable reported missing in Anuradhapura found in Puttalam

The body of the police constable who was reported missing on the 4th of April, in Anuradhapura has been found in Puttalam near the Neelabamma canal.

It was reported that the officer’s duty weapon was in his possession at the time he went missing.

The body was discovered on a tipoff received from an area resident.

The resident two children had found the pistol and the wallet belonging to the police constable near the canal. 

The children had given the money found in the wallet to their father.

The father then discovered the headless body of the constable.

Our correspondent noted that the resident had informed police in Saliyawewa and Rajanganaya.

The police later confirmed that the body of the police constable had been found.
