Signs of Indian boats being released before Modi’s arrival

Friday, 21 April 2017 - 7:43

The newspaper “The Hindu” has expressed it hopes that before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visits Sri Lanka,  a  decision will be taken with regard to the release of the Indian boats detained by sri lanka .

A reporter from “The Hindu” Meeraa Sirinivaasan expressed this view after a discussion he held with sri Lankas fishing community while touring Mannar.

The reporter said that the Sri Lankan fishermen also expect a  stable solution with regard to the fisheries problems at Palk Strait.

The number of Indian trawlers that venture towards the Sri Lankan sea belt has decreased significantly due to the protest of Sri Lankan fishermen and the intervention of governments of both countries.
