A group of dislocated persons in Meethotamulla refuse to be relocated - Colombo Municipal Council asks for a favour

A tense situation erupted today when a group of displaced persons from the Meethotamulla garbage mound collapse who are sheltered at Terrance N de Silva college in Kolonnawa were informed to move to another place.

The Meethotamulla Rice Mill Warehouse is being prepared to temporarily locate them.

315 persons who were affected by the Meethotamulla garbage mound collapse are being sheltered at the relief camp at Terrance N de Silva College in Kollonnawa.

Meanwhile, Colombo Municipal Council Commissioner, V. K. Anura requested people from areas contributing to garbage to assist them in managing garbage related issues.

He stated that measures are currently being taken to provide permanent solutions to these issues.   

He further stated that at present, disposing garbage in Colombo city has been managed successfully.
