World Bank and IMF content with Sri Lanka

Minister of Finance, Ravi Karunanayake stated that the World Bank and the IMF commended the progress of Sri Lanka’s economic development.

The minister made this comment while expressing his views on the Semi Annual Summit of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund currently being held in Washington.

The summit which commenced on the 18th will be concluded tomorrow.

Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake, Secretary to the Treasury, R.H.S. Samarathunga and several other officials are taking part in the summit.

The minister of finance further noted that the World Bank and the IMF representatives held separate discussions with him.

The World Bank has agreed to deploy a special team to Sri Lanka to investigate into solid waste management.

Its vice president, Annette Dixon has noted that Sri Lanka’s economic development has improved at present.
