Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said it had been decided to grant those whose property’s were destroyed in the meethotamulla incident , the total value of their property’s

The prime minister made the statement while participating at a discussion with a group representing the people affected by the  Meetotamulla tragedy. The meeting was held at Temple Trees on Sunday afternoon.

The Prime Minister’s office announced that discussions were held regarding the provision of housing to families willing to leave the risk zone.

It was also decided that  families would be provided with an allowance of Rs. 50,000 until the assessment of the distress incurred has been completed,

The prime minister stated that an allowance would be granted for transportation to enable residents to evacuate the risk zone.

It was also decided that the affected residents would be granted a waiver of the   arrears owing on loans obtained from the Housing Authority and that they wold obtain  compensation for goods destroyed in the incident.

Similarly at this discussion the prime minister also advised that the residents visit the Divisional secretariat by  tomorrow to work towards having their problems resolved and to have the problems with title deeds solved on Thursday.
