Wimal accused of a novel complaint

Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe ordered today to file a complaint against 7 individuals including MP Wimal Weerawansa.

It has been revealed that the suspects have been accused of causing disturbance to the public by blocking Baudhdaloka Mawatha and Havelock road on February 06 in 2016 staging a huge protest in front of UN Head office in Colombo.

The suspects include MPs Wimal Weerawansa, Jayantha Samaraweera and Weerakumara Dissanayake, Provincial Minister Roger Senevirathne and former MPs Piyasiri Wijenayake, Mohamed Muzammil and Chaminda Jayalal.

Meanwhile, police informed the court today it has been yet unable to find the 7th suspect.

The complaint would be filed when the 7th suspect is found and the court ordered to file it as soon as the suspect is found and adjourned the proceedings until September 08, 2017.
