President Maithripala Sirisena has ordered to provide him a report on the public officials who went abroad for training and inspection programs on waste management during the last five years.

This order was given during a meeting chaired by the President over the streamlining of solid waste management in Colombo and its suburbs at the Presidential Secretariat this morning.

President’s Media Unit further stated that the President ordered the authorities to pay the proposed 50 thousand rupees monthly allowance in a lump sum to the relevant beneficiaries of Meethotamulla.

UDA officials told the president that the impending risk of the Meethotamulla garbage mound has been controlled and assured to the President that a final decision will be taken within the next 2 months.
