Parliament to hold an emergency session on Friday

Parliament is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting on friday.

Reports state that parliament will be holding this urgent meeting according to a notice issued by the President under the Public Security Act in order to obtain approval for several gazette notifications relating to waste management.

Plans have been made to present to parliament ,the gazette notification on requiring  waste disposal services to be a  compulsory service.

This will be taken up for debate and approval on Friday.

President Maithreepala Sirisena issued a gazette notification recently, making garbage disposal and management services an essential service implemented by provincial council institutions.

Further discussions are to be held regarding the matter this morning at the party leaders meeting.
