Minister Fonseka appointed to head up a unit that will deal with strikes and agitations

Cabinet’s attention has been drawn on setting up a special unit headed by Minister Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka for dealing with strikes and agitations that take place throughout the country.  

Reports say that lengthy discussions were had with this regard, at the cabinet meeting held yesterday, with President Maithripala Sirisena at the chair. .

Ministers participating in the meeting had proposed that the unit should be created with Minister Field Marshall Fonseka as its head.

On this occasion the Minister had pointed out that the nations activities should not be jeopardized by protests staged by small groups.

He went on to state that it was important to set up a special unit that would oversee disruptions being kept to a minimum during such protests
