Wesak week from the 7th to the 13th of May

World Islamic Leaders have commended the vision of President Maithripala Sirisena on religious harmony and peace.

This was when a senior Islamic delegation called on President Sirisena yesterday.

Advisor to the Islamic Minister of Saudi Arabia, Abdul Aziz Al Ammara said the people in the Islamic world, could take many examples from Sri Lanka.

The Saudi delegation had also assured that they would extend their fullest support in Sri Lanka's development efforts.

Meanwhile, a progress evaluation meeting on the United Nations Wesak Day Celebrations was held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

The UN Wesak Day celebrations will be held from the 12th to the 14th of this month in Sri Lanka.

The Presidents Media Unit in a communiqué stated that the week from the 7th to the 13th has therefore been named as the Wesak week.
