11,000 police officers deployed to beef up security for May Day in Kandy and Colombo: Special CCTV system for Colombo

16 main May Day rallies organized by main political parties and organizations will be held in Colombo and Kandy tomorrow in celebration of the International Workers’ Day.

The United National Party will hold its rally at the Campbell Park in Colombo while the SLFP will hold its rally at Gatambe Grounds in Kandy

The JVP will hold its rally at BRC grounds and the May Day rally of The Podujana Peramuna will be held at Galle Face Green.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the Police Headquarters today, DIG Ajith Rohana stated that 11,000 police officers have been deployed to ensure the security at all venues of the main May Day rallies tomorrow.

The DIG further stated that a special program will be implemented tomorrow on traffic violations and to apprehend those driving under the influence of alcohol.
