The garbage mount in Gohaagoda , Kandy reported to be in a hazardous state is scheduled to be inspected via Dona cameras tomorrow.

The programme is being implemented as a joint effort of  the Local Government Ministry and the Central Provincial Council.

Meanwhile Local Government Minister Faizer Mustapa and Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake be having a special discussion on may the 5th regarding whether  to remove the garbage mount from its current location or to recycle the mount.

While researchers have warned that the Gohaagoda garbage mount could collapse into the Mahaweli river, it has been reported that Methane gas is being emitted from the garbage mount.

The Kandy Municipal Council and the Haarispattuwa Divisional Council have  both disposed their garbage to this location  over the past 40 years.
