Kandy , Gohagoda garbage mount prone to danger

The Geology Department of Peradeniya University states that Gohagoda garbage mount in Kandy could catch fire or explore at any moment.

Professor Athula Senarathna told our news team that the authorities should take remedial action immediately.

He said plenty of methane that had been accumulated inside the garbage mount could lead to an explosion or fire.

At the same time Provincial Council and Local Government Ministry has imitated a special investigation to ascertain whether there is any crack in the garbage mount and any gases are emanating.
