Policeman who shot at UNP headquarters remanded

The police constable who shot at the UNP headquarters at Pitakotte with his service gun has been remanded today by the Nugegoda Magistrate until May 15th.

Magistrate Kanishka Wijerathna further ordered the Superintendent of Welikada Prison to refer the suspect to Angoda Mental hospital and obtained a report on his mental condition.

The suspect had shot at the name board which is installed at the entrance of UNP Headquarters Sirikotha and, damaged its elephant emblem yesterday.

The 40-year old suspect was attached to the Mirihana police station and is a resident of Megahatenna, Mathugama.
