Basil indicted; summons issued on Namal

The Colombo High Court has issued summons on five respondents including MP Namal Rajapaksa in a Case where the respondents did not divulge how they amassed 30 million rupees.

The Case against the respondents has been filed by the Attorney General under the Money Laundering Act.

When the Case was taken before High Court Judge Piyasena Ranasinghe, the respondents were ordered to appear before Court on June 6th.

The five respondents including Namal Rajapaksa have been accused of suspiciously purchasing 125 million rupee stocks for Govers Corporation from Hello Corp Company.

Meanwhile, Gampaha High Court served indictment to former minister Basil Rajapaksa in connection with acquiring a land and building a mansion in Malwaana.

The Case with regard to the Malwaana land was taken before High Court Judge Priyantha Fernando today.

The Case will be called again on July 27th and the Judge decided to begin trial of the Case with effect from December 8th.
