Trade Unions threaten with crucial action on May 9 unless solutions found for strike tomorrow

The strike organized by GMOA and several other trade unions on 3 major demands is scheduled to be launched tomorrow.

However certain trade unions stated during media conferences that they would object the strike led by GMOA tomorrow.

At the same time, addressing a media conference held in Colombo today, GMOA Secretary Dr. Navin de Soyza said that the government should resort to a solution which secures the people’s right to life.

Meanwhile, Secretary of SLTB Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya Ranjith Wijayasiri stated at a media conference held in Colombo today that his trade union would not participate in the strike tomorrow.

At the same time, Chairman of the Lanka Private Bus owners association Gemunu Wijerathna said at a media conference held in Colombo today that private bus services will not be disrupted due to the strike tomorrow.

Meanwhile, minister P Harrison stated in a ceremony held in Kandy today that strikes should be justifiable.

In the meantime, GMOA Assistant Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge stated at a media conference in Colombo today that his trade union will take a crucial decision on the 9th of May if a solution is not given to their strike tomorrow.
