Minister Sagala clarifies on reducing state protection given to the former President

Minister of Law and Order & Southern Development, Sagala Rathnayake made a clarification today at the Parliament remarking that a group army personnel allocated for the guard of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa were removed in line with the prevalent security condition in the country.

Speaking further he said that the former President would be provided with full security.

He further said that only 42 guards have been dismissed from 229 guards who were allocated including 26 STF guards, and still 187 guards are in service for the former President.
