Vesak week commences from today; circular for Dansal

Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs Nimal Kotawalagedara stated that the Vesak Week in parallel to the UN Vesak Festival and State Vesak Festival will commence today.

He stated that several programmes had been planned during the week.

Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs also stated that a circular has been issued with regard to conducting Dansal.

He also stated that organizers should use Yellow coloured flags to welcome devotees to Dansal in place of the Buddhist flag.

 Dhamma School education should be made compulsory; Proposal submitted to Chief Minister’s Summit

A proposal has been submitted to the Chief Ministers summit to make Dhamma School education compulsory.

Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayaka stated that a proposal was also approved at the summit to ban all tuition classes till 2 PM on Sundays.
