Strong winds damage many houses in Anuradhapura

Strong winds accompanying heavy showers have damaged houses and crops in Hidogama and Thalawa areas in Anuradhapura last night.

The Disaster Management Centre stated that several areas experienced power failures until morning due to power lines being damaged by fallen trees.

Meanwhile, several places in Bingiriya – Kurunegala experienced a hail storm last afternoon.

In the meantime, the Ceylon Electricity Board stated that the water levels in reservoirs are still insufficient for hydro power generation.
