National Action plan to minimize deforestation presented to the President

National action plan which had been prepared in line with the United Nations programme on reducing greenhouse gas emissions by reducing deforestation, was presented to the President Maithripala Sirisena today.

Una McCauley, the UN resident coordinator for Sri Lanka presented it to the President.

The purpose of this plan would be minimizing deforestation in Sri Lanka with the help of both governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Moreover, the event was graced by Aadivasi leader, Uru Warige Wannila Aththo as well.
