North Central Provincial Council Transport, Sports, Youth Affairs, cooperative and industries minister S.M. Ranjith stated that he decided to resign from his current post in protest of the removal of his colleague and health minister K.H. Nandasena.

Addressing a media conference held at the Battaramulla political office of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa, Ranjith said he expects to function as a part of an independent group in the provincial council.

Health, Nutrition, indigenous medicine, child protection, environment, social service and welfare minister K.H. Nandasena has been replaced with UPFA member M. Herath Banda.

However, K.H. Nandasena stated that he is not informed about the removal of him from the provincial ministry post.
