11 police teams deployed to investigate the Piliyandala shooting

Law and Order Minister Sagala Rathnayake has ordered to provide him a report with regard to the Piliyandala shooting within three days.

He has also asked to show cause in that report for the reason to deploy a police team on such a raid without adhering to appropriate preparations.

The minister has appointed Senior DIG M.R. Lathif to carry out the investigation.

Meanwhile, Police Media spokesman DIG Priyantha Jayakody said the main suspect and his criminal network that carried out the shooting at the police team of the Narcotic Bureau have been identified.

There are 11 police teams deployed to investigate the shooting which was carried out against the police team in front of a state bank on the Piliyandala Maharagama road last night.

IP Niyomal Rangajeeva, another police constable, two children and a youth in the area who sustained injuries in the shooting are receiving treatment at Kalubowila teaching hospital and Colombo National hospital.
