Another stock of heroin discovered from garbage in Maradana

Police said the stock of 200 kilograms of heroin seized from the coastal area of Chilaw is the largest seizure of narcotics reported in the recent past.

The suspect who was transporting 200 kilograms of heroin was also arrested.

The face value of the stock of narcotics is nearly 2000 million rupees.

Police also stated an underworld gang led by Madush, who is believed to have led the shooting on Police Narcotics Bureau at Piliyandala, is also responsible for smuggling in this stock of heroin.

Meanwhile, another 3.6 kilograms of heroin were discovered from a heap of garbage at D.R. Wijewardana Mawatha in Colombo this afternoon.

Police said the face value of the drug stock is more than 36 million rupees.

A senior police officer of Maradana police said that the raid was conducted following a tip off given by a bystander.
