Premier Modi says India anticipates progress and development for Sri Lanka

The visiting prime minister of India , narendra modhi says that india is constantly anticipating economic progress in Sri Lanka. 

He also said that India expecting to initiate direct flights between Colombo and Varnasi or Benares with effect from next August to facilitate Buddhist pilgrims and other tourists. 

The Indian Premier was delivering the key note address at the 14th  United Nation Vesak Commemoration ceremony which commenced at the BMICH in Colombo this morning.

President Maithripala Sirisena, Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya were present at the venue to welcome the visiting prime minister as the r Red Carpet was rolled out upon his arrival. 

Addressing the ceremony, President Maithripala Sirisena said that the philosophy of Buddhism alone could give solutions to the emerging economic and social disputes in the world.

The visiting Indian Premier Narendra Modi said in his speech, that there is a strong tie existing between Sri Lanka and India.
