9 kilograms of heroin floating on sea off Kankasanthurai

The Sri Lanka Navy has seized 9.3 kilograms of heroin floating on sea 8 nautical miles off Kankasanthurai Harbor.

Navy Media Spokesman Lieutenant Commander Chaminda Walakuluge stated that the face value of the seized narcotic stock is over 90 million rupees.

A group of naval officers on a coastal guard boat had observed some suspicious object being floating on the distant sea.

Later they brought it to the land and found heroin inside the parcels.

Meanwhile, 200 kilograms of heroin were seized from Chilaw coastal area yesterday.

A suspect was also arrested along with the narcotic goods.

In addition, another 3.6 kilograms of heroin were also discovered from a garbage heap in D.R. Wijewardana Mawatha in Colombo yesterday afternoon.
