A novice monk assaulted in Polonnaruwa

Polonnaruwa police have initiated an inquiry into an assault of a novice monk residing at Meda-maluwa temple at Oonagama in Polonnaruwa.

A group of strangers travelling in a double cab launched the assault on the 14 year old monk last night.

The novice monk is receiving treatment at Polonnaruwa hospital.

Venerable Sevagama Vinaya-rathana Thera who is a resident monk of the temple described the incident to our news team in this manner.
