S.M. Ranjith replaced with a member who signed the affidavit against north Central Province Chief Minister

Susil Gunarathna was sworn in as minister of Transport, Sports, Youth Affairs, Trade, Food, Cooperative and Industry of the North Central Provincial Council today.

The swearing in was held before Provincial Governor P.B. Dissanayake.

Gunarathna is the SLFP chief organizer of the Medawachchiya electorate of the Anuradhapura district.

It is significant that Susil Gunarathna is among the 17 UPFA members who put their signatures to the affidavit which was organized against Chief Minister Peshala Jayarathna yesterday.

Gunarathna was appointed to the post after S.M. Ranjith resigned from his post recently.

S.M. Ranjith resigned in protest of the north central province health Minister K.H. Nandasena being reomoved from his post.

When our news team contacted the former chief minister and minister of transport S.M. Ranjith to comment on the swearing in of Gunarathna.

The former minister said his factions still possess the majority in the North Central Provincial Council.
