Cabinet meets as the reshuffle approaches

Despite certain reports published that the usual Cabinet meeting would not be held until the impending reshuffle takes placec, the cabinet did convened today under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe did not attent the meeting  held at the Presidential Secretariat as the Premier is overseas on an official tour of China.

A government minister stated that the Cabinet meeting today lasted less than an hour.

The minister stated that nearly normally 60 Cabinet papers are submitted for approval, however today only 35 had been submitted.

After addressing a ceremony in Matara recently, Finance State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said a Cabinet reshuffle could be expected between May 18th to 25th.
